Thankfully, I WAS able to find another practice that understands the concept of customer service and bring my problem to a successful conclusion.
When our federal refund was not issued into our account in the time frame they gave us, I contacted Tax Prep (as told to do so by the owner Keith when we signed the returns) to ask for their help. We waited additional weeks as asked. They seemed annoyed and bothered each time I called and eventually insisted I come into the office to call the IRS with them. I stood there while Karen called the standard automated request number I told them I had already tried.
I mention all of this here to show that I have done everything they have asked of me and tried to be as cooperative as possible. Now 4 months later we learn from the IRS our refund is being held up because of an error made by Tax Prep regarding the annual $500 payback of our home buyers credit. I indicated on Tax Prep's preparation questionnaire we had taken this credit and it was also shown on our 2010 taxes which they stated they would review before filing our return.
We have been told by the IRS to expect at least another 4 weeks before our refund is issued. I hired Tax Prep because I wanted someone experienced to oversee our return. When I brought the error to their attention on June 7th they blamed it on their software and offered no apology. I asked for a refund and a call back from the owner. I waited 24 hours and called back to speak with the owner Keith. I again made my request for a refund.
They're quick to bill, cash the check lightning fast but in my experience getting the job done, not so much. I had a time-sensitive task (two week deadline) which needed professional attention and it sat without event getting started for six days. Had to start over finding a new firm and giving them only ONE week to complete a pretty hefty job.
Karen called me back to tell me that Keith would not be calling me back nor would they issue a refund. They told me they would be willing to file an amendment/correction but the IRS has already taken care of this. When I pushed for a refund Karen offered a 50 dollar credit on next years taxes, but would not trust them to handle next years return which will be even more complicated.
We hired Tax Prep & Accounting to take care of our 2011 taxes. They got them done in a timely manner. We went into review them and there was no review just a collection of our signatures and payment.

Our tax situation was complex and we worried for weeks. A friend recommended Keith at Tax Prep & Accounting Services. It was the best move we made. The IRS letters stopped, Keith called a meeting with the IRS and when the meeting was over we owed the IRS NOTHING!!! All I can say is these guys know taxes. I'll recommend Tax Prep to anyone who asks.
Their website highlights their Professionalism, Responsiveness, and Quality, but as you can read here, we saw little evidence of this. They also did not respond to our complaint filed by the BBB.
